The Hare and the Tortoise
Once upon a time, in a forest, there lived a hare and a tortoise. The hare was very proud of his speed. He often laughed at the tortoise for being so slow.
One day, the tortoise said to the hare, “Let us have a race. I may be slow, but I will try my best.”
The hare laughed loudly, “A race? You and me? I run like the wind, and you walk like a snail! But fine, let’s race.”
The race began. The hare ran very fast and soon was far ahead. He looked back and saw the tortoise walking slowly, far behind.
“Ha! I have so much time,” thought the hare. “Let me rest under this shady tree for a while.” Soon, the hare fell fast asleep.
The tortoise did not stop. He kept walking slowly, step by step, without resting. He never gave up.
After some time, the tortoise reached the finish line. Just then, the hare woke up. He ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. The tortoise was already at the winning post.
The hare felt ashamed, and the tortoise smiled proudly.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
